Public Holiday : A public holiday has been in Uttar Pradesh on March 31. On this day, all schools, colleges, banks, and government offices will remain closed. According to the holiday calendar issued by the Basic Education Council, all council-run schools will remain closed on March 31.

As per the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council’s holiday list, Mahavir Jayanti will be celebrated on Tuesday, and keeping this in view, a holiday has been declared. The bank union has also announced a public holiday on March 31 in its holiday schedule. Additionally, schools, colleges, and government offices will remain closed on April 3 and April 14 as well.

Order issued with District Magistrate’s signature

In Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, the holiday has been officially declared through an order signed by District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi. According to the Indian national calendar (Shaka Samvat), March 31 falls on the tenth day (Dashami) of the month of Chaitra, and as per Vikram Samvat 2083, it is the thirteenth day (Trayodashi) of Chaitra, marking the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. A public holiday is declared on this day under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

Holiday in banks as well

The bank employees’ union has also declared March 31 as a holiday in its schedule. However, since it is also the financial year closing day, employees are uncertain about whether they will actually get leave. Work will continue in branches of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

Holiday in Basic Education Council offices

According to the holiday list issued by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, Prayagraj, all schools operated, controlled, or recognized by the council will remain closed on March 31. This order has been issued by Secretary Surendra Kumar Tiwari.

Public holidays on April 3 and April 14

The Uttar Pradesh government has also declared public holidays on April 3 and April 14. As per the holiday list, April 3 is observed as Good Friday, while April 14 marks the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. On both these days, all schools, colleges, government offices, banks, and LIC branches will remain closed.

Additionally, the month of April includes four Saturdays and four Sundays.
